GENIUS:PICASSO | national geographic channel | PROMO

The National geographic channel approached imaginary forces with the exciting challenge of exploring the condition of genius for Season 2 Genius : Pablo Picasso. With a narrative focus on the layers and condition of this icon we began building a story around the indelible mark he left. It is the imprint that a genius leaves on those cherished human bonds and in the case of Pablo Picasso, the muses and relationships that he chose to inspire his work, that creates this rich character story- an artist’s path to reach the peak of his craft. We represented three of Picasso’s muses as unique color palettes that would bring the vivid texture of the world Picasso lived in and depicted. As the spot progresses, so does the tension. As Picasso’s obsession with one muse would shift to the next, mixing, smearing, even washing his hands of paint and inspiration around him. Though his intentions were never to harm, the influence of this genius on the world around him was as impactful as the muller he would use to crush paint pigment. Genius inspires. Genius creates. Genius destroys. Genius leaves a mark.
